Gulbagge Awards
They are the most important film awards in Sweden, awarded by the Swedish Film Institute since 1964. The award given is a statuette in the shape of a pink beetle, made of copper and plated in gold, created by the Swedish painter and sculptor Karl Axel Pehrson.

History of the Guldbagge Awards
The first Guldbagge Awards ceremony was held on September 25, 1964 at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm. That year, there were only three categories: Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.
Since 1985, the awards ceremony has been held in January and the works from the previous year are awarded.
Figurine
The award is shaped like a golden scarab, designed by artist Karl Axel Pehrson. The first gold beetles were made at the Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory in 1964. Today, they are made by artist Patrik Sandell. The prize weighs about 1.2 kg.
