The 41st edition of the Cannes Film Festival was held for 12 days, from 11 to May 23, 1988 in the city of Cannes in France, awarding the best films from a large part of the world. The president of the jury for the main competition was Ettore Scola. The movie The Big Blue, opened the festival.
