The 54st edition of the Cannes Film Festival was held for 11 days, from 14 to May 25, 2001 in the city of Cannes in France, awarding the best films from a large part of the world. The president of the jury for the main competition was Liv Ullmann. The ceremony was presented by Charlotte Rampling. The movie Moulin Rouge, opened the festival.
