The 13st edition of the Toronto International Film Festival was held for 9 days, from 08 to September 17, 1988 in the city of Toronto in Canada, awarding the best films from a large part of the world. The movie Dead Ringers, opened the festival.

In this year the "People's Choice Award - Midnight Madness" program or category is created.
