Columbo

Colombo is an American television series first broadcast from 1971 to 1978. Then the series aired less frequently from 1989 to 2003. The lead role of Colombo is played by actor Peter Falk.

 

Colombo is a homicide detective for the Los Angeles Police Department in the United States. He apparently simple and messy, but in reality he turns out to be very smart, cunning and stubborn.

Beyond the personality of the main character, the originality of the series lies in the fact that the viewer knows, from the beginning of each episode, who the murderer is and often the motive for his crime.

 

Another characteristic of the main character is that Colombo never resorts to force, but exclusively solves cases through observation, deduction and psychology. Usually, the culprits turn out to be members of Los Angeles high society.

 

Colombo always dresses a bit tattered, stooped, and drives a junk car, which causes the suspects to treat the policeman as low-grade, annoyed, or hypocritical.
