Nora Wilder (Parker Posey) works in a posh hotel in downtown New York. She is thirty-something and still unattached, as her mother is constantly reminding her. Nora goes on dates which always leave her with the feeling that she will never meet the perfect man, or at least, not as perfect as her friend Audrey's husband. And one day she meets Julien (Melvil Poupaud), single, hansome, passionate for life, charming... Nora does not want to make the same mistakes again, she is afraid it will be the end of the world if she fails once more.
