Billy Ray Smith (Anthony Edwards) is a timid young schoolteacher from Boston living in Arizona. When one of his students is abducted by an outlaw known as El Diablo (Robert Beltran), he decides to rescue her. With the help of an aging gunslinger (Louis Gossett, Jr.), a novelist (Joe Pantoliano), and a preacher (John Glover), Billy Ray will try to infiltrate El Diablo's hideout.
