Rio de Janeiro, 1950s. Doña Mocinha (Fernanda Montenegro) is a very strict matriarch and a fan of the journalist and politician Carlos Lacerda. Her grandson Rodriguinho is in her house, sad because his dog died after eating the mothballs that her grandmother always puts in the cupboards at home. In the midst of this situation, she has to deal with the fact that her son-in-law, Henrique, has sold two of her lands without permission.
