Jane (Shanna Reed) is tormented by her former husband Bonner (Terry O'Quinn), a police detective who is maddened due to the disbanding of a joint custody agreement for the couple’s eight years old son Eric. During divorce proceedings, Bonner’s harassment becomes so acute that Jane and her new couple Patrick (Pierce Brosnan) decide to leave their home town and drive to California to start a new life, only to have Bonner trail them.
