The Comrades of Summer (1992)

A recently fired, resentful American baseball manager faces the formidable task of teaching the nuances of America's national pastime to a team of aspiring Russian players. Despite frequently considering giving up and going home to forget baseball altogether, he perseveres. His dedication ultimately leads him to believe his team might be capable of representing the Soviet Union at the upcoming Olympics in the United States. Performing under such pressure in this country not only provides the Russian athletes with self-discovery but also reveals something rather special about their American manager.
